根據政府統計處今日（二零一三年二月十九日）發表的數字顯示，二零一二年年底的香港人口的臨時數字為 7 173 900 人。與二零一一年年底人口 7 112 400 人比較，增加 61 500 人，增長率為 0.9% 。
According to the statistics released by the Census and Statistics Department today (February 19, 2013), the provisional estimate of the Hong Kong Population was 7 173 900 at end-2012, representing an increase of 61 500 or 0.9% from 7 112 400 in end-2011.


二零一二年年底人口數字
根據慣例，每次發表最新的人口數字為「臨時數字」。
而經修訂的數字會在其後的六個月公布。
即是說，二零一二年年底人口的臨時數字於今天公布，而修訂數字將於二零一三年八月公布。

Year-end population for 2012
Under the current practice, the latest population figure is released on a provisional basis in each round.
The revised figure will be released six months later.
In other words, while the provisional population figure for end-2012 is released today, the corresponding revised figure will be released in August 2013.
